Local aerodrome regulations
Initial climb in EPKK is 6000 ft and the value is published on the charts. Information about it does not have to be issued with departure clearance, but it is highly recommended, especially for newbie pilots.
Kraków TWR controller does not require clearance from APP Kraków for takeoff permission (the “departure release” is not required).
Datalink clearance
In addition to clearances issued via radio, ATS has an option to issue ATC clearance via Dalatink Departure Clearance (DCL). Departure Clearance Request (RCD) should be initiated:
- no earlier than 30 minutes prior to EOBT or CTOT (if CTOT is assigned),
- no later than 5 minutes prior to EOBT or CTOT (if CTOT is assigned).
After initiating the datalink process, cews shall continously monitor frequency given in ATIS in the data exchange process in case of any changes.
ATC clearance can be issued by ATC via radio even after initiating the Departure Clearance Request (RCD) via datalink.
Ground movement procedures
Delivery controller may, after coordination with Ground controller, issue a startup clearance for aircraft on stands, which do not require push-back.
De-icing for code letter A, B and C ACFT is designated on stands 22 and 26-30. For code letter D and E ACFT de-ice is possible on TWY W1.

Aircraft DE-ICING
De-icing of aircraft ICAO Code A, B and C is designated on stands 22 and 26-30. De-icinf of aircraft ICAO Code D and E is possible on TWY W1.
Crews requiring de-icing, should report that request prior to startup or pushback clearance.
VFR traffic
VFR traffic during transit through CTR Kraków or performing aerodrome circuits should fly at a constant transit altitude of 2000 ft.
During periods of high air traffic intensity, an aircraft operating under VFR may, if necessary, be instructed to hold according to the appropriate procedure over the following points:
- point KILO – arrival from SIERRA. Holding on the south side of KILO.
- point ZULU – arrival from INDIA or OSCAR. Holding on the north side of ZULU.
At EPKK radar service is provided for airborne traffic. Traffic is controlled according to PANS-ATM 4444 Chapter 8
Low Visibility Procedures (LVP)
LVP operations will be commenced when any of the RVR falls below 550 m and/or the cloud ceiling falls below 200 ft. Pilots are informed about LVP being in operation via ATIS or by radio, with use of following phraseology: “Low visibility procedures in operation.” LVP will be terminated when all RVRs increase to 550 m or above and ceiling rises above 200 ft and a continuing improvement is anticipated.

Operation of code F aircraft is not permitted during LVP. Runway vacation can be conducted only via the TWY A or TWY F.
During LVP the following elements of the aerodrome maneuvering area are available:
- RWY 07/25,
- TWY: A, W1-3, Z1-6, B1-6, F, G, S, T.
Landing clearance must be issued not later than 2 NM from runway threshold.
Take-offs, landings and movement of skid-based helicopters on the movement area are not permitted.
Minimum RVR for departure is 350 m.
Minimums for landing depends on the approach type chosen by PIC. After vacating the runway, pilot is obliged to report it to TWR controller.
