Local aerodrome regulations

Initial climb in EPMO is 4000 ft and the value is published on the charts. Information about it does not have to be issued with departure clearance, but it is highly recommended, especially for newbie pilots.

Modlin TWR controller does require clearance from APP Warszawa for takeoff permission (the “departure release” is required), unless APP controller decides otherwise.

Due to the potential infringement of the ILS critical area by aircraft taxiing on TWY E, in particular in the vicinity of the ILS GP/DME installation, the RNP RWY 08 approach is preffered as the primary approach procedure for RWY 08 at EPMO.

The ILS CAT I RWY 08 approach may be used in unusual or emergency situations, or upon prior coordination.

IFR omnidirectional departure procedures are determined for the purpose of case when an instrument departure via SID is impossible or undesirable. Expect ATC to use phraseology of *“IFR OMNIDIRECTIONAL DEPARTURE RUNWAY XX TURN LEFT/RIGHT HDG XXX”**, which is to be read back including “IFR OMNIDIRECTIONAL” part.

Omnidirectional departures for the purpose of airport capacity enhancement are not permitted between 2100 and 0500 (2000 and 0400) UTC*.

*times indicated in parentheses refer to the central european summer time.

ATC clearance to execute an omnidirectional departure may be issued only upon initiative of the ATC and accepted by the pilot.

In addition to clearances issued via radio, ATS has an option to issue ATC clearance via Datalink Departure Clearance (DCL). Departure Clearance Request (RCD) should be initiated: no earlier than 30 minutes prior to EOBT or CTOT (if CTOT is assigned).

Minimum runway occupancy time

ATC will consider every aircraft at the holding point as able to commence line up and take-off roll after clearance issued with no delay.

Where possible, cockpit checks and cabin readiness shall be completed before line-up and any actions requiring completion on the runway shall be minimised.

If the taxi distance between the parking stand and holding position is short, it is suggested to finish the passenger cabin safety procedures demo before vacating the parking stand.

Aircraft DE-ICING

De-icing is performed on ACFT STD 11 or 12.

VFR traffic

Overflight VFR traffic through CTR WARSZAWA/Modlin or performing aerodrome circuits should fly not higher than 1500 ft.

During periods of high air traffic intensity, an aircraft operating under VFR may, if necessary, be instructed to hold according to the appropriate procedure over the following points:

  • point INDIA - Approach from point HOTEL or YANKEE. Perform holding on the north side of point INDIA.
  • point UNIFORM - Approach from points VICTOR or JULIETT. Perform holding without crossing the north side of the Vistula River.

Aircraft performing traffic circuits, must not fly beyond the INDIA and UNIFORM holding points.

At EPMO radar service is provided for airborne traffic. Traffic is controlled according to PANS-ATM 4444 Chapter 8.

Low Visibility Procedures (LVP)

LVP operations will be commenced when any of the RVR falls below 550 m and/or the cloud ceiling falls below 200 ft. Pilots are informed about LVP being in operation via ATIS or by radio, with use of following phraseology: “Low visibility procedures in operation. CAT II in operation”. If weather conditions does not allow CAT II approaches the following phraseology should be used instead: “Low visibility procedures in operation. CAT II not available”.

LVP will be terminated when all of the RVR increase over 600 m and the cloud ceiling reaches 200 ft or more and a continuing improvement is anticipated.

During LVP both RWY 08 and RWY 26 can be used for departure. After landing pilot should vacate the runway via TWY B or TWY C and taxi via TWY A.

Minimum RVR for departure is 150 m.
