TMA Olsztyn

Airspace characteristics

The TMA Olsztyn airspace is a controlled airspace of Class D up to FL95, and from FL95 to FL115, it is Class C.

TWR Mazury provides procedural approach control to Olsztyn Airport.

TMAOL

Standard Operating Procedures

The TWR Mazury controller is responsible for ensuring separation between aircraft following the rules outlined in this section.

For Non-RNAV arrivals (where the aircraft cannot navigate with RNP 1 accuracy), the crew should be cleared to fly directly over SYN or MRA VOR, and then issue non-standard arrival instructions using Instrument Approach Procedures (IAP) for the designated runway.

RNAV arrivals to Olsztyn Airport (EPSY) follow only one possible configuration (a single STAR identifier) for each runway.

In case of inadequate time separation due to the limited airspace of TMA Olsztyn, it is recommended to issue a non-standard holding before entering the TMA.

Coordination with other ATC units

Airspace delegation to ACC Warszawa

The airspace of TMA Olsztyn, upon the request of the TWR Mazury controller and with the approval of the ACC Warszawa controller, can be temporarily delegated, or tasks related to air traffic control for individual aircraft may be delegated to ACC Warszawa.

caution

The delegation takes place only when TWR Mazury is online and grants permission/requests the ACC controller for this delegation.

In the delegated airspace, the ACC controller may use radar control.

The delegation cannot be lower than 5500 ft, as it is directly related to the radar range limitations used by ACC Warszawa.

The ACC Warszawa controller may use radar imagery to issue shortcuts to STAR points when the traffic situation allows, ensuring that the aircraft remains above 5500 ft while flying DCT.

Delegation of the airspace must be established individually with the appropriate ACC controller. The ACC controller may cancel the delegation at any time, ensuring that aircraft in TMA Olsztyn remain procedurally separated.
